abida minhas, ma

licensed professional counselor - supervisor

I am a graduate of Argosy University Dallas where I earned my master's degree in Professional Counseling. A native of Houston, I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology, with honors, from the University of Houston. I came into the field of Behavioral Sciences after sustaining personal tragedies and, therefore, have a passion for my work. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with a variety of clients coping with different issues, from career changes, to family issues, to depression and anxiety, to those dealing with severe mental illness. These experiences have come from my extensive work and training in Community Mental Health Clinics, as well as in Private Practice settings, that provide services for dual-diagnosed individuals. Additionally, I have experience working with individuals going through Post-Traumatic Stress and adjustments associated with that. My areas of interest include couples, families, children, depression, anxiety, and trauma-based issues. I also work with diverse clients and am fluent in the languages of Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused treatments in practice. I believe that the client is the expert in their treatment, and value the power of therapy to help clients change their lives.
