master's student in marriage and family therapy

supervised by mike bishop, phd

Brandi Read was born in Grand Prairie, Texas. She currently works in Higher Education, assisting students with their academic and personal goals.

While earning her BS in Psychology, Brandi volunteered at the Dallas Suicide and Crisis Center following Journey of Hope, where she was a group facilitator for the Survivors of Suicide. Her passion for therapy comes from the simple fact that when she thinks about how she would like to expend her time and energy, counseling is what makes her come alive. Brandi believes in the behavioral forms of therapy, allowing for integration of a solutions-focused approach, and in a psychodynamic model that focuses on the root and history of the problem. She believes everyone has opportunities to learn, grow, and become a better version of themselves if they allow it, and that there is hope for everyone, no matter the issue.

Brandi—along with her rockstar, singer-songwriter husband, Paul, and her medium-sized dog, Mia—makes a home in Keller, Texas. She is working toward her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with an emphasis in Treatment of Trauma, focusing on grief, high-crisis, and suicide. Along with sharing her testimonies, she enjoys cooking, scrapbooking, and vacationing on the beaches of Florida. She loves going to the movies and favors ‘70s classic rock music.

Brandi works out of ROCC’s Richardson office. To schedule an appointment with her, please call 469-619-7622 or email ROCC's Richardson office at ROCC@richlandoaks.org.
