Mary Clare’s philosophy of counseling is centered around compassion, acceptance, and a willingness to enter into an individual’s experience alongside them. She entered the counseling field because she has a genuine desire to help people get to know themselves and increase their self-awareness so they can live a more fulfilling life. Mary Clare believes it is fundamental to create a strong therapeutic relationship by viewing each client as a unique individual. Her goal is to respectfully challenge and encourage her clients to find healing emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually. Counseling can be a pathway for growth and healing. It is an opportunity for clients to freely express themselves, explore who they are as an individual, and understand the patterns of their behaviors in a safe environment. Counseling provides a setting where individuals learn psychological flexibility, develop the willingness to continue growing, and move in a direction that is in line with who they want to be and what is most important to them. Mary Clare hopes to help her clients develop the autonomy to draw their own conclusions and choose the direction they want to take in resolving their issues.

Mary Clare enjoys working with individuals from all backgrounds, with a specialty in adolescents and adults who experience both behavioral and emotional challenges. Her clinical training and experience include individual and group counseling in both inpatient and outpatient settings, along with crisis intervention, trauma-informed and addiction counseling. Mary Clare is LGBTQ affirming She utilizes evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness to help her clients work through the challenges they are facing, restore a healthy life, and have a lasting recovery.
