master's student in counseling
supervised by jackie holmes, lpc
As a film major at Texas Christian University, Melodye realized she was most drawn to people’s developmental and emotional experiences, and wanted to focus instead on directly helping others progress. She switched her major to Sociology and spent the next 11 years in various client service positions, including special education teaching roles, healthcare advocacy, and career development mentorship.
Her experiences in helping adolescents and adults affected by issues like depression, trauma, negative self-image, and chronic health conditions activated Melodye’s passion for counseling. After stints in Ohio and Washington, she moved back to Texas to pursue a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at Texas Woman’s University.
Melodye believes that establishing a genuine connection and equality between herself and clients helps foster growth. She places importance on the here and now, as well as examining the impact of clients’ varying relationships and identities. She is committed to helping empower clients to recognize their personal strengths and reach their goals.
