shon mondragon, BS
master's student in counseling
supervised by sean blackburn, lpc
Shon's interest in understanding the foundations of our human experience began with his research in cognitive psychology while completing his Bachelor of Science at the University of Houston. His respect for the unconscious functions of the mind, and the healing its understanding can bring, has led him to pursue a Master of Arts in Counseling with a specialization in Depth Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute.
Shon primarily utilizes a person-centered approach with a psychodynamic perspective to assist in approaching the material of interest for a client while incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to accomplish therapeutic goals. Some of his practice interests include identity development, Sand Play Therapy, anxiety, depression, and social justice challenges. Along with these clinical interests, Shon has also found the practice of Dream Tending powerfully useful in illuminating the insight and meaning offered through the symbolic language of dreams.
His expanding work finds motivation in igniting curiosity toward greater perspective and understanding. Shon deeply respects the authentic experience of each individual and is honored to assist his clients in their journey through counseling.
