Mary Ann Galvan
Masters student in clinicial mental health counseling
supervised by kelleigh head, psyd
Hello, my name is Mary Ann! I am a Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate student at Texas Woman’s University. I am honored to work under the supervision of Dr. Kelleigh Head, which means you will have the support of a dedicated team as we work together toward your goals.
Before beginning my graduate studies, I earned a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Neuroscience and a B.S. in Health and Society with a focus on Physiology from Southern Methodist University (SMU).
My therapeutic approach is grounded in existential theory, which means I focus on helping clients explore the deeper parts of life, like who they are, what matters most to them, and how to make sense of the challenges they face. I strive to create a welcoming, supportive space where you feel safe to reflect, grow, and reconnect with your own strengths. Our work together may include mindfulness, open conversations, and helpful insights to better understand your emotions, patterns, and experiences, all at your own pace.
I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, cultural identity concerns, and life transitions. I have a growing interest in play therapy and plan to pursue doctoral training in that area. I am also currently conducting research focused on improving access to mental health care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Outside the therapy room, I recharge through yoga, sound bath meditation, and spending time with loved ones. I believe healing begins with connection, and I’m honored to walk alongside clients as they grow, heal, and discover their own strengths. My goal is to support you in finding balance, healing, and a deeper connection to yourself.
Mary Ann works out of ROCC’s Richardson office. To schedule an appointment with her, please call 469-619-7622 or email ROCC's Richardson office at ROCC@richlandoaks.org.
“We don’t hear much about how painful it is to go from being completely stuck to becoming unstuck. The process of becoming unstuck requires tremendous bravery, because basically we are completely changing our way of perceiving reality, like changing our DNA. We are undoing a pattern that is just not our pattern. It’s the human pattern.”
