Emily Nielson
Masters practicum Student in mental health counseling
supervised by Jeremy cooper, lpc
Welcome, I’m Emily, and I’m a mental health counseling student at Texas Woman's University. I’m supervised by Dr. Jeremy Cooper, which will further ground and support our work together.
Beginning therapy can feel like a big step, and I want to acknowledge and honor the courage it takes to reach out. It can sometimes help to know more about who you’ll be working with and the approach they take.
I have a B.A. in Psychology and am a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher with a passion for supporting individuals in re-connecting with their body. Additionally, I have training in conflict mediation, crisis intervention, and dialogue facilitation. In my work as a Peer Support Specialist, I have walked alongside young adults and members of the LGBTQIA+ community as they navigate mental health concerns and life transitions.
I approach therapy from a psychoanalytic lens, and I believe that by exploring the past, we can positively change our present and future. I view our therapeutic relationship as an ever-evolving, collaborative project, and my hope is that it can be a space where you feel seen, known, and cared for.
I am here to support you through a variety of concerns, including, anxiety, depression, family of origin concerns, childhood and relational trauma, identity challenges, and more, as well as therapy for those looking to befriend the different parts of themselves or explore adding more creativity to their life.
I look forward to meeting you and supporting you.
