jon olvera, MA

licensed professional counselor associate

My passion is for helping people navigate as they wade through deep waters. My experience in life has led me to see that people were made to live in community, not in isolation. I look forward to joining in the journey of weary travelers who are ready to see change.

Jon’s approach to counseling is relational and process oriented. He desires to build a safe and secure relationship between client and therapist that fosters insight and growth. Together he explores attachment styles and current and past relationship dynamics.

Jon works with individuals, and couples in areas of anxiety, depression, sexuality, trauma and other conditions.  He also works with Spanish speakers who have limited English. Jon’s faith plays an integral role in his life. While he does not impose his beliefs on clients, he recognizes the value and impact of spirituality on all people and works with clients of various spiritual backgrounds. Jon completed his Master’s degree in counseling at Dallas Theological Seminary.

Jon is a family man from the Northwest and loves the outdoors. Adventures with his wife and 4 kids, like hiking to high mountain lakes and fishing are among his favorite activities. He loves to travel and has been to several Latin American countries as well as Asia and Europe.

Jon works out of ROCC’s Richardson office. To schedule an appointment with him, please call 469-454-8632 or email ROCC's Richardson office at jon.olvera@richlandoaks.org.
